Xylaroo – The best things in life are free (Snowshine) | Christmas Joy

Xylaroo is the musical project of two sisters (Coco and Holly). Having travelled around the world whilst growing up, the two sisters blend simple-yet-oh-so-catchy melodies with striking harmonies and lyrics. While Xylaroo has been releasing music since 2015, the project actually began in the mid-2000s. Additionally, the band has, more or less, remained a duo throughout their career but have found solace in guitarist Joe Singleton’s accompaniment.

The best things in life are free (snowshine) is their latest track. This is an acoustic track with a central theme focused on Christmas. The track is relatively simple with an acoustic guitar, and two voices. The guitar isn’t very fancy with a clean output, but a really enjoyable, old-school, rhythm to accompany the angelic voices from Coco and Holly. I find this track to be really warm and has captured a great vision of what Christmas should be. The track focuses mostly on how we don’t need money to have the best things in life. I suppose it is a track that may be a bit idealistic, but there’s nothing wrong with that.

Considering that Xylaroo has been around for some time, I don’t expect them to make many mistakes, but I can honestly say that there’s nothing I find unappealing about this track and its music. If there’s a band that you want to help you keep toasty around the bonfire, then Xylaroo is for you, my friend!

I listen to and make silly noises while analysing why people behave the way they do.
