The latest full-length studio album by Aloefi, Analog Dreams consists of thirteen songs. Overall, it runs for a duration of thrity-six minutes and twenty-seven seconds. It is an instrumental album at its core but it focusses primarily on the hip-hop soundscape. The most attractive aspect of the album is how Aloefi plays around with the sonic elements.
While the beats are entirely inspired by hip-hop music, the melodic part of the album is very cinematic. It feels like every song has a different story to tell,. But, they all seem in deep connect with one another. Therefore, it is definitely better to take some time about and listen to the entire album in one go. It is only when you listen to the songs in sequence, you realize the sonic thread that binds them together. But at the same time the individuality is alive in every song.
Besides the hip-hop beats and their variations, Aloefi also makes use of samples and the instrumental layering is top-notch. It goes on to show the versatility and creativity that flows independently in the mind of an artist. There is a lot of warmth in every song of this album. It makes one want to listen to the tracks all over again. The synth lines, electronic samples, some horn sections, and of course the rhythm that the beats bring in, all work together in making this album such a chill and fun experience on the whole.

We had the chance to speak with Aloefi, who shared some thoughts about the album. Let’s hear what he had to say!
1) Hi Aloefi! First of all, the new album is really amazing and hooks the listeners from start to finish. So before we get into some details about the album itself, would you like to tell us about the origin of Aloefi and your musical journey so far?
I’ve been producing since I was a teenager and tried to break into the hip-hop scene in Philly in my early 20s, but something about that pursuit didn’t feel right. So I pivoted to writing, which led me to build a successful career in journalism. I feel like being rooted in a career I loved gave me space to get back to music and create without chasing money or fame, and that led to a breakthrough.
Throughout the years, I kept working on my beatmaking craft and began recording lo-fi and instrumental beats in early 2025. I used the last two weeks of the year to record a demo called “2004”. Cold Busted Records heard the demo and signed me for the album and another EP, and that’s where we are now. “2004” became Analog Dreams. The album is inspired by my memories of coming of age in Philly as a teenager.
2) Since you are the primary and perhaps the only composer of these tracks, we would like to know your process of writing the tunes for this album. Do the visualizations and emotions you have drive your compositions, or do the compositions gradually shape your visualizations and emotions?
All of my beats start with an emotion. I may not have the full picture of the memory or concept, but I know the sounds that will express that initial emotion, and then I start building. For this album, I composed the baselines first; something about that bottom really struck a chord with everything I was feeling.
A deep dive into the recording and writing process of the album.
3) Please take us through the recording process of this album. Did you record all the songs together in one go, sequentially? Or were the recordings done one by one and then put together in a sequence?
I recorded all of these records at the same time, within a two-week period. I did the lion’s share of the production on my MPC One. Besides that, I did do some additional programming and instrumentation in Logic Pro. Derrick Daisley from Cold Busted worked with me on the final track list. But these 13 songs were always made to be experienced together.
4) While writing these tunes, did you have an initial idea of how you wanted them to sound as a whole set on the album? Do you think the final result is closely similar to how you imagined it to be?
I wanted this album to sound like a soundtrack to nostalgia, whatever that means for the listener. For me, that meant tapping into a transformative time in my life. But I hope the sound sparks a different set of memories for each person who hears it. The final product is exactly what I imagined.
5) What can the fans expect from Aloefi in the future?
I have more instrumental work coming in the future… I’m also working on some house tracks, collabs with other producers, and some full projects with a couple of rappers. I’m in a very creative and inspired space right now.
