Close Drive Fuses Indie Melodies With Elation in Their New Single “Bed Head”

Close Drive is a four-piece suburban Philadelphia band. Their adventure began as a duo and has since evolved to include John Antoni (guitar/backing vox), Brandon Higgins (guitar/lead vox), William Higgins (bass, backing vox), and Kevin Sullivan (drums). They’re now making waves in the North East with live shows. Their self-titled debut album, “Close Drive,” served as the launch for a collaboration with indie label Free Dive Records.

“Bed Head,” their most recent release, is a lively and fresh-sounding song that quickly caught my attention. The song is embellished with nostalgic elements that impart a pleasant sense of nostalgia and elation. The peppy electronic guitar work creates an appealing rhythm that will just make your day.

The drum work is noteworthy, adding to the song’s dynamic groove.   However, the track’s highest point for me comes at the 2:00-minute mark, when all of the musical components come together in harmony, offering a beautifully gratifying moment. The ambient chorus, when paired with the raw and powerful vocal delivery, electric guitar, and strong percussion, creates an exciting symphony.

It was a point where I was bobbing along and soaking up the vibrant environment.   As the song develops, what I presume to be Brandon’s singing skill becomes more apparent. The steady shift to higher pitches offers emphasis without overpowering the other instrumental layers.

In essence, this captures the track’s beauty: a seamless blend of melody, intensity, and a refreshing atmosphere that lasts throughout.   I would not recommend missing this one!
