Maddisun – Home Is Where The Music Is

Maddisun is a Canada-based singer/songwriters who is known and admired for her magical musical abilities that can enchant the masses. Her tracks give voce to complex feelings like love, loss, heartache, growth, ignorance and accomplishments. Her tracks are a perfect intertwining of indie-folk, classic rock, R&B, and electro-pop. Her tracks beautifully portray her elite vocal range that is bold and expresses her ecstatic musicality. Maddisun has been polishing her studio, performance and vocal skills since her high school. She made her debut in august 2020 with her album, “Self Reflections”, her fans have been waiting for such a feast since then.

Maddisun recently released her second album which is a true piece of art which can only be felt. The album is named ‘Home Is Where The Music Is’ and the name perfectly describes the album, only someone with such immense love for music can give out and album like this one. The album has 10 tracks that beautifully expresses vivid feelings and emotions through music that is ecstatically intertwined with heartfelt music. The album will take you higher than the Empire state building and lower than the Marina trench.

The album is a like a magical journey that starts off with the most soothing pair tracks of the album. The first two tracks are named ‘Home’ and ‘Running’. Both these tracks are pretty strong musically and lyrically. These tracks perfectly set the mood for the album which is one of the best introduction for an album which is so powerful. The melodies in the second tracks will mesmerize your mind and your soul. Both these tracks project strong emotions which will make you shed tears and smile with joy at the same time.

The next track on the album is ‘Don’t Say No’ which is my personal favorite. This is one of those tracks which conveys vivid feelings through lyrics intertwined into heart-felt vocals. The musical aspect of track is paid close attention to and executed in the best way possible. This track has already gained more 66000 streams.

The next two tracks on the album are pretty close to my heart and are named ‘Fading’ and ‘Big Waves’. both these tracks are so relatable that you might take it for your own reflection. Both these tracks deeply touch the heart of the listener making this one of the best.

The next track on the album will surely blow your mind with its unique vocals that digs deep into the listener’s hearts. This track will surely make you flow away with the tides of Maddisun’s intricate musicality. This track is followed by ‘On the Outside which is my personal favorite. This is surely a track that each and every one who has ever fallen in love should listen to.

The next two tracks, ‘True me’ and ‘Right’ which are like a bridge towards the outro. This artist is a magician when it comes to structuring an album. These tracks will leave you begging for more and that is definitely fulfilled by the last track that is named ‘Glory Day (Over and Over).

“This is surely an album to listen to. Do give it a listen.

We had a chance to have a little chat with Maddisun and this is how it went-

Q. Love how you paint such vivid pictures through music and lyrics. What fuels your flame to keep going and put out such deep tracks?

“Thank you! I love to create imagery through my music.

Definitely experience! When you experience deep things in life and you’re an artist, usually the best way to process is through creation of more art! I see music as a therapy and a way to process experiences and feelings.”

Q. The album seems to tell a story of its own. What is the story behind the birth of this masterpiece?

“Yes, “Home Is Where The Music Is” definitely has a very special story. I used to live in Ireland, and I have travelled around a lot by myself. I recently went back to Ireland to write for this album, and then I recorded it in L.A. I covered lots of ground.

Sometimes the concept of “home” would get a little fuzzy, so when I was able to connect with my music I felt really at home, and connected to myself.

Also growing up in such a musical family, music has always brought me back home. A lot of the album is like me “coming home to myself” “

Q. Your vocals are crystal clear and deeply heartfelt. How do you train your throat, or is it a God’s gift?

“It’s mostly just natural, but I definitely have a lot of techniques I use to maintain vocal health/range/use! Such as… LOTS of water, warm drinks, healthy foods, steam inhalations, and rest! Also my secret weapon: Oil of oregano.”

Q. I could sense gentle touch of the ‘90s in your tracks, what were your inspirations for this album?

“Oh yeah! I am definitely inspired by ‘90s music! I really love Sheryl Crow, Shania Twain, Jewel, Mazzy Star… to name a few! I also am very inspired by classic rock and Americana music. Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, The Guess Who, Heart, Dolly Parton.”

Q. Your music clearly projects that you’ve been writing and singing tracks for a long time. How did you discover your musical abilities?

“I’ve been musical since I was like 2 years old! My parents have told me I was always singing and dancing. So they put me into piano lessons when I was about 6 years old, and from there, the music just grew! I do come from a very musical family, so I was always growing up around it, singing and playing around the campfire and always listening to music from a young age. Music really blossomed for me when I was in high school and started writing.”
