“Across The Sky”, by Josh Jensen: A singer-songwriter’s view of love

Josh Jensen is a singer/songwriter living in and constantly exploring the Pacific Northwest– and says that he feels inspired by various singers and musicians, and indeed, they reflect in the diversity of his musical style. Keep reading for my thoughts on his latest single, “Across The Sky”!

Right from the opening notes, the undertones that this song paints are soft, mild-mannered, and introspective. The lyricism serves to set the stage for Josh’s melodies, as he blends the two together to build a message of love, and hope. The whole song has lines that talk about the challenges that one can overcome in life with a loved one, and with them present, how everything just has a bit more beauty to it. Love, by itself, of course, is a timeless thing; and I think it’s represented beautifully here.

The instrumentation, as well, is passionate and gracefully done; with the acoustic guitars in the background laying down the melodic base for “Across The Sky” quite well. The drums and the rest of the percussion, as well, do an excellent job at driving the song forward and keeping the listener firmly focused on the lyrics and the story unfolding in the themes that get painted here, and I think that’s an excellent thing.
