Clothing Goes Nu-metal: Korn is Here for Your Wardrobe Makeover Courtesy of Adidas

Korn have already been frontrunners of the nu-metal genre, and this collaboration is proof. Adidas just announced a collaboration with Korn, and trust me-if Limp Bizkit could cover Faith by George Micheal and make it a Woodstock rager, this isn’t even closer to the weirdest news you have heard.

Sure, Korn have had their moments on the big screen, and most of the time, you’ll see Jonathan Davis wearing tracksuits. The charismatic leader and his loyal brethren have brought a great name to the counter culture, and it makes sense Adidas would want to collaborate with them too. As long as they don’t go the direction of Yeezys, or dare I say, the “creator”.

Korn peel the layers back

Given the serious thought Jonathan Davis puts into his live kit as well as recording songs, the German sportswear brand must be more than happy to get a musician leader to replace Ye. Glittering style, choice of clothing, and larger than life performances would make any performance leaning band love it, and KornxAdidas is going to be a hashtag for a while.

If this is where the alternative is heading, I don’t know what kind of clothing won’t be affected. Punk might have never endorsed what would be a brand, as long as it wasn’t Converse.  Though hip-hop has Nikes and Adidas bombed throughout the songs, this isn’t something that is a regularity for rock bands.

Change has to come somewhere, and there are more than a fair share of fans of that twisted, gnarly font that has become the voice of nu-metal. Korn are happy, Adidas are happy, and some of us couldn’t care less. Good for the wardrobe of those who do care, I guess.

Let’s talk less about fashion and more about their song, A.D.I.D.A.S. Which is more important to you? I’m still hooked to the beat of the latter, and the meaning of the word changing in the metal scene thanks to some parallel thinking lads. Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
