The Pulse Theory bring a swelling return with their prog metal single, “Hymn for the Dark”

This is pristine prog metal from India. The Pulse Theory are here with a new single, and you’re missing out if you haven’t kept an eye (ear) on them. The Bangalore based group split the gap between heaven and hell with their album called Coming Back Home in 2023. This is a return where you can expect a lot more fireworks. This one is called Hymn for the Dark

Are you telling me that opening lead didn’t give you goosebumps? Before launching into a charged element with the riff, The Pulse Theory are onwards with their experimentation, while having layers that make this a top-tier listen. Launching into a guitar solo immediately after, there are many complex layers to break down-almost like a metal Pink Floyd. They ensure each aspect shows a lot of maturity, allowing each element to breathe very well before changing their direction.

Are you going to suppose this song isn’t heavy? Let the melodies not trick you. There are many chaotic impressions in this track, and they reveal themselves exactly when it’s time. Vocals are deep, expressive and yet change into a wall of rage when the screams come in. You’ll never catch on with the time signature shifts. This is where the band knows their narrative the best, fuelling incredible visuals and emotions through their compositions.

The spatial plays are very powerful on this one, creating quite the rhythm internally. I loved The Pulse Theory extending their limbs to cover a lot of floor on this song, making it one memorable number. Exciting things are coming our way with this band, so enjoy this hymn:

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
