The Margaret Hooligans deliver raucous rock with their single, “Driver!”

The Margaret Hooligans sure do know how to deliver some fresh brewed retro rock. The duo have been making music that has their own flavour for some time now. Inspired by the likes of The Who, this song can attest to that in a second. Their latest single is a catchy fire sale, a yellow cab screeching through NYC. This one is called Driver!

Give me any movie with a fast-paced driving scene, and this song will fit in great. The Margaret Hooligans build an energetic tempo, keeping the driver in the centre of the frame. It has some great energy, the kind of fire that you’d want to listen from an opening number during a concert. Now, I’m told some of the most idiosyncratic indie musicians do get together for their music. I Am The Unicorn Head did collaborate with them, and he has done so with 9 o’clock Nasty as well. Meg Cratty and Mr. Strontium showcase to us that all music has to do is inspire you, the rest is bullshit.

Slowing down is not an option

The simple distorted guitar (perhaps electric ukulele if I give it a thought) progression, quick tempo and execution have had me grooving to this. There is a punk to feel to it, but you get that gentle Pete Townshend instrumentality as well. There are interesting breaks that find the gap and treat with grout that is laced with LSD. In simple words, it is a trip I’m sure you’re not ready to take. Just like a cab ride in NYC.

The Margaret Hooligans have some great songs to groove to, you might especially think listening to that percussion. Their brilliance lies in their raw delivery, yet make the kind of music that people can connect to. Listen to their song below and follow them for more on their Instagram! Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
