The Heavy North - No Good

The Heavy North – No Good | Swelter

Activity on the discographic chart of The Heavy North with the release of their second single of 2021 since Darkness In Your Eyes No Good. The five-man act has decorated their discography with five consecutive singles over 2020 and 2021, perhaps hinting at a possible EP or a full-length album in the works. No Good adds to the promise of that discussion, where the band strings together another number in their characteristic blues-rock ambience. No Good, with a runtime of just over three minutes, pays tribute to the classic blues-rock/psychedelic rock sound with the overdriven bass licks, sultry electric guitar tones and the ashen vocals. The track opens up with a ridiculously immersive bass lick that serves as the backbone for the bluesy electric guitar tone which sweeps across the track. The number is characteristic of the blues-rock swagger and charming slapdash that actualizes itself as the genre of in-house machismo, and The Heavy North does well to polish that equation. Ushering in a new wave of blues-rock, the band’s music pays sonic tributes to classic acts in the genre including oldies such as Disraeli Gears by Cream and also more contemporary acts like AM by Arctic Monkeys.
