M@y – Can’t Help Myself | Slowcore

M@y is an indie rock duo that has never actually met in person. You’d never think that considering how well-arranged their tracks are. Their latest release Can’t Help Myself, sounds like a track straight off a White Stripes album, with the raw vocals of singer Melissa Mezei accompanied by the high production value of Adam Mayorga. M@y sounds all too familiar with beats and distorted guitar taking you to the good ol’ days of the early 2000s. Influenced by the likes of Bishop Briggs, Elle King, and Gin Wigmore, the rock duo have a quality of music that the industry currently needs. M@y’s hard-hitting drums, luring guitar and powerful vocals make it stand on its own. Can’t Help Myself is one of their tracks that enchant you with the melodies, harmonies and outstanding drums. The guitar provides a rhythm that’s unusual for something usually used as a leading instrument. The power-packed vocals provided by Mezei capture your attention immediately and guide you throughout the track. The whole track flows so melodically, but with a sense of purpose and passion. I am absolutely in awe of the music. Much like their most successful track, Killer Queen, Can’t Help Myself is grungy which seems to be their thing. M@y is definitely a band to look out for.
