In 2016, musicians Helena and Paul decided to collaborate and work together on their favourite thing in the world – creating music. They soon formed a rock band together called First Frontier and released two hard-hitting demos in 2020. Known for their high-spirited and energetic rock songs, the group recently shared a guitar-driven banger of a track titled ‘Break Away’ that will take you back to the head-banging days of the late 90s and early 2000s.
“So much toxicity pollutes the sea in my environment / Your the lead paint that seeps into our bones / Evacuates our homes”.
The song starts off with Helena singing in a confident and almost aggressive tone about letting go of toxic people and things. Through a blend of intricate lyricism and infectious melodies, ‘Break Away’ shares an emotive and empowering story that is bound to get you pumped up. Its distorted guitars and upbeat drums emphasise the motivating lyrics brilliantly – a perfect track for an open-air rock and roll concert!
The Birmingham-based duo has been working on a debut EP for a while now and ‘Break Away’, being the first single on the list, gives listeners a sneak peek into their post-punk/garage rock sound. First Frontier definitely knows the formula to write powerful music and I’m sure the fans are eager to hear more songs from them soon!
