Born in Georgia, but based in Jacksonville, Florida, Jesabel is a Country Pop singer and songwriter. While she’s more confident in her abilities now, Jesabel started off with a crippling fear of performing for people. Her journey began when she took her first voice lesson at the age of 27. Additionally, she taught herself how to play the guitar and began working on her songwriting. Her music is a genre-defying mix of Country, Blues, Soul and Pop that ends in different types of music filling her mosaic.
Her latest and fifth single, This Small Town, comes off of the success of her EP release, Every Excuse. The song seems to combine Country and Pop in the most ambient way possible. Her guitar work is pleasing to the ears while she has this wave of a synth to add depth and lightness to the track. The beats give it this kick that adds a rhythmic groove. Moreover, the bass is an uber groovy line that keeps that rhythm flowing. Her vocals seem to capture your attention and let you focus on the peripheral while her vocals remain at the centre. The lovely counter-melodies and harmonies add another layer of depth.
Jesabel creates a wave of emotion with her lyrics combined with the instrumental. Her ability to craft a Pop track with the Country and Soul feelings is simply unmatched right now.
