Mazyn – Already Made It | Confident

Emerging hip-hop artist from Ottawa, Canada, Mazyn is back a hard-hitting track called “Already Made It”. Previously releasing songs under the artist name “Capé”, Mazyn earned a nomination for the “Hip Hop Artist of the Year” award in Ottawa by Faces Magazine in 2019 within a span of a year releasing music. Since then, he has constantly been delivering emotive performances through a steady stream of singles and is now out with his first track of the year.

“Already Made It” starts with an ambient, dreamy synth arpeggio and uses a raw, pleasantly muddy 808 as it progresses. There’s a selective use of percussion, mostly hi-hats, which is not too overwhelming so it does not divert the attention away from the vocals, allowing them to be the definite highlight of the track. Mazyn sings inspiring, yet somewhat seductive lyrics about how he’s proud of how far he’s come

A clever contrast with various bright and dark sounds makes the performance quite flavourful. Additionally, the well-planned use of reverbs and distortion make the sounds work well in their own element, further supporting the rapper’s confident flow here.

The production seems to take inspiration from artists like The Weeknd and Jaden Smith. Mazyn’s flow suits the motivating feel of the track, and it continues to play as if he’s trying to give listeners a little push with his words. With its two-minute-long duration, it sure does seem like the perfect song to have on loop! “Already Made It” is another excellent addition to his ever-growing discography and I’m sure his fans are eager to hear more.
