Aggressive Soccer Moms – It’s Not Love | Relaxing

Aggressive Soccer Moms is a Lo-Fi Post Punk duo from Sweden that consists of Anders Bergström and Thomas Wahlström. The dynamic duo craft their brilliant soundscapes and tones to offer a whole new vision of music. While they’ve both got roots in the late 70s Punk movement, they’ve added the lo-fi sound to create authenticity. Aggressive Soccer Moms create music in the moment and have a more realistic feel than most other Lo-Fi artists out there.

Their latest single, It’s Not Love comes after the success of their last album, Deviation. The track is light, dreamy and has an ethereal feel to it. Something about It’s Not Love has this soothing effect on you. Moreover, the track reminds me of some tracks from Interpol and The Strokes. Aggressive Soccer Moms have a distinct sound that seeps into you and takes over your headspace. It’s a comfortable place to be and the vocal work adds to that. In some ways, I feel like I’m taken back to a simpler time when Punk was all over the radio. However, there’s something so contemporary and modern about the music that I can’t shake.

I’m in absolute awe of Aggressive Soccer Moms. The music is soothing, calming and overall a great vibe. If you’re looking for something that won’t make you think too much, then these are the guys for you. Moreover, if you just want to play something during those sad moments, this would be perfect to accompany you. That’s not all though, we managed to score an interview with ASM. Read on down below for more.

How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard your music before?
Our sound is influenced by a lifetime of listening to and playing music. We both come from the early movement of punk, in the late 70s and try to be lo-fi, but often it becomes classic old school postpunk. Our music is art. We get compared to the Fall and the Cure sometimes. But we think we have our own sound.

What has been the most difficult and the easiest part of your music career so far?
To write and record music comes fairly easy to us. To get recognition is the hardest part.

How did you go about the decision to make music for a career?
We didn’t. We just started writing music and then we thought that if we like it, someone else might like it as well…

What is the most fun part of working together?
We have the same taste in music even though we have different influences and we seem to understand each other’s intentions very well. We are friends and music is the best reason to hang out together.

How do you go about creating a song?
We are both writing stuff all the time. And then we play and sing our ideas to each other when we get together. And almost every time, with only minor adjustments, our music and lyrical ideas fit perfectly together. It comes very naturally.

What’s next for Aggressive Soccer Moms?
We are working on our next album (the 7th). It’s gonna be a bit different. We are also going to put together a repertoire and rehearse this autumn. We are slowly getting ready to play some shows again, in Sweden and elsewhere.
