LAWRN – Best Friend | Dreamy Nostalgic vibe

Music can evoke a lot of emotions in the listener. Its not only the lyrics but even just sound itself. Just like how certain odor and smell can trigger memories, music can also have a similar effect. LAWRN’s music has this exact effect. It just triggers some nostalgia and a warm feeling that I cannot explain. Overcast skies, a long drive on a never-ending road. That’s the place their music takes me. Its the synth melodies and the echo on the vocals that just create the perfect vibe for me!

LAWRN is an alt pop band based out of London. It was formed in 2018 by Andrew Greenwood, Ollie and Harm. Their music is all about how it makes you feel. It’s the synth pop genre I guess that focuses more on the vibe than lyrics or the singer’s voice. This dreamy synth pop band has just released their latest single ‘Best Friend’ and the phrase “It’s a vibe” is the best possible way to describe it.

The song starts off with some nice dreamy synth atmospheres that surround the listener. This sets the stage for the rest of the song. Andrew’s voice cuts through the mix and narrates the story of a breakup. It’s the exact feeling that you get after a breakup. A weird feeling in your stomach and everything is filled with melancholy and sadness. His vocals bleed sadness but slowly the tempo is upped and it’s as if he’s getting over it as he vents in the song. Really good work on the mix and amazing effects on the vocals. Its perfectly captures the roller coaster of emotions that one goes through after a break up and they’re trying to cope and seem strong to the rest of the world. All this while being completely destroyed inside. BEAUTIFUL song that just invokes so much nostalgia for anyone who’s had a tough break up!

The synth chords that play in between are just so dreamy that I had to write an extra line just to emphasize that!
