Up and coming pop artist Liiyo recently put out a two-track single called ‘THE RESET’. Currently based out of London, the artist comes from a variety of cultures and his music is influenced by a number of genres, such as RnB, Soul, Rock, Soca and KPOP. Liiyo started off his solo career in early 2020 after working and performing as a lead singer with two pop bands. He now focuses on creating and sharing his original music – an eclectic fusion of a variety of themes and addictive beats.
I Wish You Wasn’t In My Life
In relationships, there may be times when frustration and uncertainty are unavoidable, times when you wish your significant other wasn’t such a strong presence in your life. Liiyo captures this feeling in his own signature style on I Wish You Wasn’t In My Life. Over a blend of EDM synths and RnB beats, he expresses his emotions through conversational vocals and relatable lyrics.

Often, people come up with the phrase, “It’s complicated,” when they are unable to find sufficient words to describe a challenging situation. Liiyo, on the other hand, writes a catchy song about it! With strong vocals accompanied by energetic instrumentation, I Wish You Wasn’t In My Life is a song that tells a story that is very true to its title.
Echo
Right from the start, the next track of the lot has a very different vibe altogether. Echo is introduced with hard-hitting beats and dark textures. During the verses, a big, punchy bassline drives the song, eventually taking on a more psychedelic tone in the pre-chorus – not a very subtle change but it all seems to be a part of Liiyo’s storyline. He channels his anger through his emotive vocals that are supported by aggressive melodies and powerful drops for the most half. Liiyo dials down the tone a bit in the bridge with a soft piano and nostalgic lyrics; a dynamic yet powerful change of pace.
Additionally, Echo also showcases one of Liiyo’s smooth rap verses, it’s great how versatile he is with his production on this track! – “Now, Now, Now, you were wanted / But I know that you’re not the one / You take, take, take, when you want it / But it’s my game and I say when it’s done“.
Liiyo’s latest release ‘THE RESET,’ is another trademark addition to his discography and he seems to have become more comfortable expressing himself after starting his solo journey in 2020. Having been raised in a mixed-race family, with roots from England, Ireland and Trinidad and Tobago, Liiyo’s sonic palette features a colourful blend of instruments and sounds. Known for his engaging live performances all around London, the singer-songwriter is slowly but surely making waves in the industry, so don’t miss out!
