Frank Joshua’s New Single ‘Walls’ is a Labyrinthine of Emotions

Stories of eternal lovers are what maketh this Earth and us, her children. We are born entangled in the blues and reds and blossom into our version of green somewhere in between before we die again. English Singer-songwriter Frank Joshua’s latest addition to this myriad worldly storytelling arrives as ‘Walls’. ‘Walls’ is a lyrical brilliance that bursts with the blueish sound of both romance and rupture. I grew up with the voices of Elton John and George Michael singing the soft, delicate stories of lovers, with their simple complications. But adult life experiences taught me how oxymoron my understanding was. In ‘Walls’, the voice of Frank Joshua emerges with a softness of the yesteryear, adding to it the intricate new-day versions of modern lovers and their matured modern complexities.

Like a jar of mixed fruit marmalade, ‘Walls’ is filled with few arduous words, an eccentric poetic sense, some deliberate desynchronized sounds, and, of course, labyrinthine emotions of lovers growing old — much like the rinds of different fruits yielding and resisting under the bite. While Frank often writes his songs, ‘Walls’ was crafted by his longtime collaborator, Simon Pitheakley, and brought to life by producer Tony White. Released under the British label Numen Records, it marks Frank’s 41st single. The song comes in two versions—a crisp radio edit and a more immersive extended cut. Its visually stunning music video, directed by Diego Monfredini, blends digital art with live-action footage, amplifying the song’s deeper meaning. And with just eight weeks until Joshua’s next release, the excitement is already building.
