CharlieCityy’s Fourth Album in Two Years CITYBOY is Etched in Endurance

CITYBOY by charlieCityy is his latest album blends in moody trap beats, soulful melodic layers, with flickers of old-school hip-hop. The seven-track list mirrors the life of a young boy in a city of comforts and chaos. A place where the constant need for validation creates a vicious cycle of addiction to substances and materialistic gains. Where the void of loneliness is covered up with loudness, concrete, or shimmer. Charlie lets his listeners feel the claustrophobia, the betrayal, the late-night doubts, and the small victories that tag along.

The album CITYBOY begins with ‘girls don’t die‘, a song about love & loss. Charlie sets a sombre mood in this track, which revolves around the death of a loved one. His voice reflects the pain of his existential loss, and the production carries a monotone weight born out of sadness. A soft acoustic guitar strum and a pensive vocal deliver the relevant emotions. At the same time, the lyrics pull listeners into feeling the deep layers charlieCityy’s experience. The incorporation of breaking-glass sounds adds texture to the reality he unabashedly speaks about. The song confronts the discomforts of urban life, losing loved ones to addiction, facing loneliness, and fighting the challenges that arise when one truly wants to change. It’s a daring deep dive from a young singer-songwriter trying to release his pain through creativity.

By the time the listener reaches the middle of the album, a sense of reconciliation with real life begins to take shape. With ‘when you’re alone‘, the fear shifts into understanding. This song uses a bustling psy-pop approach to express the exact opposite emotion, unhurriedness. Charlie’s voice adapts to synchronise with the tempo and beats. The track echoes the feeling of safety within the crowd of emotions one faces in a city. It’s about having the patience to find the right love, even amid the chaos.

As the album settles into ‘good enough‘, the process of acceptance seems complete on Charlie’s end. His voice sounds more mature, and the theme revolves around the comprehension of problems, submission to compassion, and a broader sense of surrender. Here, Charlie finally rises with a perspective shaped by surviving all that should’ve broken him.

Each song on this album carries a fragment of charlieCityy’s identity drawn from city life. CITYBOY is emotionally cohesive, personally revealing, raw, reflective, and unmistakably alive.
