Raised On Candy are ready to bring you the music they were raised on. The exciting band has had so much experience, you can hear it before you press play. In the debut album as a band, they give you the whole candy shop experience in one go. You might have got sugar rushes before. Not like this.
The band opens the album up with Nishuane Park. Like a Pixies song, it has a catchy guitar tonal riff that turns into the wrecking ball that it promises to be. Along with Joe Penna’s vocals, the rhythm section is kept built and excited, reminiscent of the grunge movement. They carry the song for the passionate story it is. A great example of how you start with your best foot forward.

Lonely Bill is next from Raised On Candy. I love how they keep an uptempo, refreshing pace, to give you a feel of what to expect when you know when they’re releasing a new song. The rusty, muff maximised guitar tones in the chorus will remain with you even when the verse section is ringing out. Midnight Creeper uses a slightly different swing, and it is exciting to know where it will lead. No matter how you hear the song, it is safe to admit that universal forces brought the 3 right people to have this feeling. Three Amigos indeed.
I really appreciate the effort in releasing the whole album of work together. In a world where you look towards singles for a lifeline, Raised On Candy want to tell their whole story. They make sure the narrative has every single ingredient. When you listen to tracks like Like A Bird, you’ll know what I am talking about. Reliving a post-grunge artifice, the band is able to bring different flavours all under one roof. Their experience clearly shows, with how they compose their song and put a real drive into every song.
Maxing the Clink has one of my favourite mix of tones. From the indie rock flow that used to blast on the radio to the kickass hard rock chunks-they are able to tie it all together to make one memorable number. In 12 songs, the band has taken it upon themselves to have a memorable impression-like a book.
You can view it as the dramatic frames of mind like I have. You can see it as a collection of kick-ass songs some expressive rockers have mastered and put out. In the end, it is great music we can all access and enjoy, with the raw kick that makes it so human.
It become relevant, how Raised On Candy have reached this art form with their style. Punk rock needs that raw human touch, of error, experience and thrill to determine the passion. Something no AI, computer or entity can touch. Check their Instagram out as well. Here’s an album that truly belongs to us:
