A debut has to be made like YFN Key2Fly. Combining the sweetness of hip-hop and R&B, he’s able to bring to life 7 songs in his debut album that show his nature and stature. Aptly titled Sorry 4 The Wait, he creates the kind of kick you would never expect from a debutant-that too with a precision and production that comes with the pros. Where the legends go to rest-here is where the swing comes.
He opens with the topic at hand, bringing beats lined with swerving lines. Crafted to the moment, it has a pinch of autotune & his signature writing. The beats fall heavy, and he navigates them with a certain nonchalance. The ambience wraps around his vocals, adding the spice of the track. YFN Key2Fly is the soul of these songs, crafting it all from personal experience. Down in Tears is more melancholy, but has a lot of character in his music. The trap beat is quick, slices through the instrumental parts and pushes his vocals up. This is the kind of party music you live for.

Finding rhyme and reason
Independently producing this might be another great boon from this artist. He has made sure the song always complements his style, giving it a highlight of sorts. Rhymes are strong, create a strong backdraft for the kind of music he works with. Having a large number of producers in his support crew has been awesome for his collection. Did U Wrong has Chrizbbeats with a sliding trap beat pushing for the energy of the song. The same energy continues into More Than Friends, where YFN Key2Fly has delivered his kick time and again. It is a surprising level of candidness he carries his songs with, and some vulnerability he is able to approach the songs from.
There is love, lust, frustration and wonderment in the songs. This one has prodbyslick laying the flow for the immaculate rapper. It is much quicker, changes his vocal delivery and performance in some ways. For a debut, this is a strong landing-although YFN should try some beats other than trap to put a focus on his rapping style.
Attack in the moment
So Lonely is where there is a turn-up also. The spaces allow vocals to be felt in a very different way. Producer Gerail Harvey brings the kind of theme which acts for a good interplay between what YFN Key2Fly is used to. There are beats that fall heavier on the bass, and more of an R&B vocal execution for the lyrics.
We close out with Money Fetish and the incredible outro designed for this album. In his first effort, you can see a dream come true with a lot of attention to detail. Music has been the great communicator for YFN, and his performance warrants the same. Watch out for more on his Instagram as well. Listen to his album here:
