Stefan West’s ‘Take What You Need’: A Lively Pop Journey

Stefan West, hailing from Melbourne, Australia, is a solo artist who channels his personal life experiences into his music, using it as a canvas to depict the journey of his own life. In his prior venture, The Velvet Addiction, he achieved significant milestones, including national airplay on Triple M, Rebel FM, and MTV. In his latest single, “Take What You Need”, he explores a fun, uptempo pop sound. Keep reading for my thoughts!

Part of the charm of this song comes from the fact that it is high on energy. The choice of instrumentation and the bright, prominent horns in the background yield the song a level of energy and punch that comes off as quite pleasing and makes for a great listen from the word go.

The vocals are executed rather well and have this carefree, soulful vibe to them that makes their mark as Stefan West’s signature, as is apparent from the other work that he has been putting out. To have such a signature is the true hallmark of a good songwriter, and that is apparent here.

This serves as a huge compliment to the songwriting and production prowess that Stefan West exhibits—and overall, makes “Take What You Need” a great listen that deserves your attention.
