‘Romeo Echo Delta’: An Immersive Soundscape That Builds
Synths fade in to set the scene, pulling the listener into the song’s fascinating world. Pieces of sound design pop out on every listen, which helps the song build on and establish a mood. Distinct voices guide the refrain, allowing ‘Romeo Echo Delta’ to move through its paces in its soundscape in real time.
‘Romeo Echo Delta’ contains ambient sounds like the faint sound of a lighter flicking on. This allows the sound to communicate a visual. The instrumentation builds and builds before dropping every few bars introducing new elements in the mix each time.
Distorted vocals attempt to push through this soundscape at different stages. Two voices are muffled but human while the last voice sounds garbled and a bit alien. There’s even a brief interlude at the climax where a man describes what appears to be an alien invasion. This along with the muffled and distorted spoken word on ‘Romeo Echo Delta’ ground the song into a tangible emotion. This making the song feel more immersive.
Red Mercury’s ‘Romeo Echo Delta’ attempts to describe a dystopian world where aliens have invaded the planet using its soundscape. The pulsating synths, distorted/muffled vocals and immersive sound design allows its listeners to dive in and immerse themselves in what can only be described as a future that feels post-apocalyptic.

Red Mercury is a London-based duo who attempt to blur the lines between different genres of Electronic music. They use vintage synthesisers to produce a unique fusion between Progressive House, Progressive Trance, Breakbeat and Drum & Bass. They lead their listeners on a journey through their soundscape.
