“Permission” by Proklaim: Smooth reggaeton rap

I suppose it goes without saying that Proklaim is quickly growing to be a favourite of the house here at Sinusoidal— with him churning out songs at a godly pace, with each of them just as good, if not better than the one before, that trend seems unstoppable with “Permission”- keep reading for my thoughts!

The intro to the song is quite chill, with Proklaim’s signature layered vocals and chill background, and as the beat drops we’re treated to a reggaeton-esque move, which is fast becoming Proklaim’s artist signature, and that is an excellent thing; this rare fusion of melodic elements, percussive elements, and Proklaim’s special sauce gets him quite far on “Permission”.

The verses are filled with technically impressive passages with great rhymes that transcend traditional boundaries in terms of the syllabic rhyming; often spilling into many lines, with a compound scheme that yields that much more X-factor to the delivery here.

“Vamos” by Proklaim: This man just gets better and better at rap every day!

The production manages to keep up, with especially the second verse relaxing the percussion energy, and letting Proklaim take the limelight, all the pomp and all the glory with his voice and rapping; and as he seamlessly blends his singing with his rhyming, it turns out to be quite special.

The mix and the master, as we’ve come to expect from Proklaim, do not fail to impress, with tight sections and control of the energy in the mix that immerses the listener in the sonic field quite well, with the dynamics control on “Permission” being a special standout for how good it is.
