As Vedantha sings, “I guess how you’ll never understand how ‘It’ felt when you took me by the hand.” And later in the song, “I guess ‘I’ll’ never understand how ‘You’ felt when you took me by the hand.” It becomes clear that the story is indeed one-sided, as the discernment, too, belongs to only one, ‘The Other’. The poetry, the path, the journey is just the imperative of waking up the open-eyed sleeping sweetheart. It is a song that lives in the liminal, between presence and absence, memory and immediacy, self and shadow.
