Realising that love was manipulative is more painful than breaking free from it. tcr! releases his break-free-from-toxic-love song while sitting “On Vancouver Island”. Love has travelled several paradigms through the history of human existence. But it is in our modern conditioned understanding that Love faces a deep crack in the face of time, a darker reality than ever, a fake duality. The very love-deprived Gen X has seen it all. “On Vancouver Island” by tcr! is a raw, honest, and intense expression of an emotionally turbulent relationship.

The track begins with selective acoustic strumming, followed by drum beats and hollow vocals sung by tcr!. His unique vocal style is the highlight of the song and is synonymous with the brutal nature of the relationship he has escaped. The composition is of a lo-fi texture, although the production could have been a bit tighter. But needless to say, the storyline and the experiential way in which the lyrics have been written make the song flawless.

The practical approach of tcr! “On Vancouver Island” is a mirror that reflects our brutal reality. A gender-biased love that has been sold to the generations in the last 100 years, massacring the minds. A genius idea by a selfish few who foresaw a world of materialism and their capitalist growth. Selling fairytales to girls, making them believe that they need rescuing, and instilling in boys a ‘he needs to save’ attitude, while turning them into war machines. “On Vancouver Island” is from a man who healed enough to create art from the chaos, not war.
