Pam Ross has crafted a distinctive musical style that defies conventional classification. Although her music falls within the Americana genre, she artfully combines a diverse range of influences, resulting in a unique genre fans affectionately refer to as “Pam Music.” The latest piece of “Pam Music” on the table today, is “Cornflakes and Beer”– keep reading for my thoughts!
The whole song demonstrates a simple, homely theme, with a fresh sound, with just a piano and a guitar to keep her voice company, while she delivers soulful lyrics dwelling upon wistful themes, about lovers gone past, and how she wishes to move on, but how it isn’t easy to do so. It all comes together quite elegantly, her songwriting propelling the energy of the song even further along.

As we step into the hook, we get to see her range, which is impressively wide and retains character even at the highest notes she hits in the song and lends an element of technical impressiveness to this song that I quite appreciated.
The production, as I alluded to earlier, is a delightfully minimalistic affair, with simple chords and melodies that make this song ingrained in one’s head easier than they would expect it to– and that contributes to the song feeling close to the heart.
