James Seyed-The Place That I Used to Know | Footprints in time

Controlling acoustic and electric guitar in a song takes a powerful composition. Luckily, Vancouver Islands native James Seyed has taken that path earlier and is comfortable allowing the guitar to sing. The Place That I Used to Know is his first single for this year. It features a duo, his guitar and him, singing in harmonics beyond our understanding.

Creating a simple rhythm for the acoustic to ring out to, James Seyed knows the art of balance. His track has the soft maturity of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. It also has the guitar mimicking the vocals like Hendrix or SRV. James has taken his guitar heroes and observed them. Creating his music by his own sheets, he is in control of the clefs and notes that he marks on those pages. It is a creative and fresh approach, creating an innocent yet energetic sound unique to his style.

There’s no doubt that James can own his fretboard. His album Passing Time from 2021 showed us just a glimpse of his talent and virtue in music. Here he lets the guitar speak without irony, with a tone he has carefully chiseled to complement his acoustic sound. Using the other live instruments just as a spine, he makes sure that whatever glitters here is gold.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
