VOCAL LONER – man on the moon | Melancholic Alt-rock

VOCAL LONER is a 19-year-old artist based in Stockholm, Sweden. The young artist has created a sound with a punky, alternative approach and a softer touch, inspired by acts like Orla Gartland, Simon & Garfunkel, Arctic Monkeys and dodie. VOCAL LONER writes songs as a storyteller and is self-taught on both piano and guitar. They are now back with a new single titled “man on the moon”, which is effectively her first original composition.

The song starts with a piano and muted guitar picking in the intro section, along with their heartfelt vocals. The song then progresses with some soft drums and ambient pads. The hook drops with a soft electric guitar riff along with the drums, followed by a bridge that associates a nostalgic melody, and delicately designed vocal harmonies, that are followed through for the final hook and the outro.

Lyrically, the song speaks about being in love with someone who’s emotionally distant and is not able to reciprocate the energy you’re giving out to them, breaking all your hopes. ‘man on the moon’ is a perfectly poetic metaphor for such a distant person, and thus the song is aptly titled. VOCAL LONER’s emotive and melancholic voice makes you feel the exact emotions the lyrics are expressing, and it’s a real pleasure to listen to.

The mix is very well glued, making the track all the more appealing to the listener. With a duration of around 3 and a half minutes, the soothing melody makes you want to sing along over and over again!
