Read the entire article if you want to know something other than the tone. band w/o band is an indie artist, Marc. Marc is a multi-instrumentalist that draws passion from alternative rock to post grunge and metal. His latest single is called The World Is On Fire, which is the latest in his series of dystopian premonitions that he makes music about. Back to talking about tone.
Genesis was Deftones’ single from their album Ohms, in 2021. Stephen Carpenter found a ridiculously heavy gain sound for the simple riff. band w/o band does the same, but different. With a resounding bass actually taking the lead, the gain heavy sound leads on the treble. This balances out the sound that Marc has been offsetting with the bass. It’s a simple technical solution, but has been made with a stroke of genius in The World Is On Fire.
Using that sound as the vocal offset, Marc’s signature drawl makes the song lean even more towards doomsday. His track has genuine horsepower because of what he has done with his live instruments, and the production speaks volumes. He’s been releasing songs since 2020, For You being the first track. From The Wallflowers kind of sound on the first track to The World Is On Fire, it is clear that Marc is a talented individual that has the sound to transform situations. His experiences translate with resolute attention, and we’re still waiting for his first album. Hopefully the world isn’t in a cataclysmic pile of ashes by then.
