9 o’clock Nasty harnesses the synth for their latest single, “Savage Mechanic.”

“So then God gave unto us, 9 o’clock Nasty and their unpredictable ways”. If you have tried to flick through the spectrum of indie music for genre mixes, you aren’t alone. Few artists have the dynamic capability to be more random than a Wheel of Fortune suggestion than 9 o’clock. I don’t know how he would look or who he is, but here is their latest single, Savage Mechanic.

As someone who loves noodling on the organ (the Yamaha kind), I was positively giddy with excitement hearing that opening. Sure, don’t compare it to Karn Evil 9 and bore us, but come on, here are 9 o’clock Nasty in their newest element. Before you find out what kind of tone that is and if we go Emerson, Lake Palmer or Deep Purple, they proceed with their composition. Savage Mechanic is a ringing delight of joyous rhythm, all executed with the taunting nosh of a riff that promises to be the theme song of your dream. No guitar, just the bass, drums and lyrics that fabricate around you an episode of The Twilight Zone. In the time that the synth bridge develops into a knee bending transition, you’re congratulating 9 o’clock Nasty. For this gift, months before Christmas.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
