Kelsie Kimberlin- What We Had | Moving and Empowering

Kelsie Kimberlin is a musician whose work is approachable, enjoyable, and rich with significant social concerns and double meanings. She shows a profound knowledge of the ability of creative music to inspire change. From a young age, Kelsie was utterly engrossed in music, participating in Yoko Ono’s peace project, singing in choirs, and spending a lot of her time in recording studios creating original songs. She takes great pride in her work and always strives to create music that will make a difference in the world. By using her music as a platform, Kelsie hopes to inspire others to stand up and make their voices heard.

Kelsie has released a new single, “What we had.” The singer’s comforting voice, which also has a somber tone to it and strong, alluring harmonies, keeps the heartbreaking track “What we had” afloat. The lyrics are so hard-hitting and resonant, with every word seeming to carry its own weight. The song talks about being betrayed and then realizing your worth to walk away from such toxicity. “Betrayed by your words, nothing said was true, listened but not heard, thankful we are through”  is so candid and also inspirational. Although the lyrics are harrowing, it’s clear that she is moving on and doing what’s best for her. And even though the chords clearly convey a painful aura, they also create a lucid, tranquil dreamlike mood. It’s like the song is saying, “Yes, this misery happened, but we’re through it now, and we need to move on.” Kelsie’s new single is a beautiful piece that is sure to tug at your heartstrings. The combination of the keys, bass, and vocals creates a dreamlike atmosphere that is perfect for listening on a rainy day.

Enjoy listening to What We Had.
