Aaron Orr is an Indie Folk artist based in Portland, Oregon. While he’s been creating music professionally since 2020, he has been developing his craft further. Orr creates music with the piano as his primary instrument. The melancholic feelings and deep emotions he ascribes to each track with so much intensity with absences are unbelievable. It’s fair to say that Aaron Orr certainly knows how to craft a song with the intention to make you feel things. While he usually uses the piano, he creates orchestral arrangements as well.
His latest single, Howl, is an example of fewer elements saying a lot more. The piano is hauntingly consistent while Aaron’s vocals bring in the melody. The light strings in the background get louder, almost enveloping you in the soundscape. Aaron Orr has this ability to make you feel melancholic and, at the same time, hopeful with his lyrics. Howl feels like the kind of track that you would play when you need a night in alone. It has all the right Sad Indie vibes that you would look for in a song. However, the music does such a brilliant job at comforting you even in those times of melancholia.
Aaron Orr has created a track with light intricacies that would probably make this song sound a lot different if done a little differently. I love the whole sound and how everything comes together as they play off of each other.
