$yndrm – Shadow Life | Experimental Ambience

$yndrm is an avant garde, Rocktronic project. Inspired by the late 70s sounds of David Bowie, Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno, he crafts visual and aural experiences. He creates music using live elements such as acoustic drums and electric guitar and pairs them with drum programming, synthesis and unusual effects. His music is extremely experimental, possibly making way for a new sound and genre to develop.

Shadow Life is a very progressive track. It is the first track off of his latest album, Facade. The track uses drumming and electronic synthesizers to start the track off. I really enjoy how $yndrm introduces each element in short measures. This track, in particular, reminds me of artists like Phillip Glass and Steve Reich who have been known to pioneer experimental music and spaces. At no point during this song will you be able to guess where it builds up to. Every element comes in, takes its time and makes way for the next one. I really enjoy how many elements $yndrm is able to bring in. It’s phenomenal to hear such an experimental track that grows with every single note.

There’s so much going on in this track, but there’s no way to fully experience it without putting on a good sound system and just immersing yourself in it. Moreover, this isn’t the only work of $yndrm’s that is able to create this unique sound. His previous album, Savage Court as well as Facade feature some insanely experimental tracks that you will truly enjoy.

I listen to and make silly noises while analysing why people behave the way they do.
