‘Constellations’ by Florent Lelong is an 8-song ambient electronica EP that manages to characterise the constellations it lists out with intuitive bursts of energy. Each track seems to dynamically expand, capturing a specific characteristic of these nebulous, colourful collections.
These characteristic moods and tones range from something kinetic and quick-paced to something a bit moody and mysterious. Yet all the tracks hold in them a quality that feels visceral and awe-inspiring.

‘Constellations’: Track-by-Track
‘Constellations’: ‘Pegasus’- ‘Cygnus’
‘Pegasus’ opens the album with a looped, chill yet expansive tone that introduces us to the EP’s theme and tone. Its steady build towards a punchy sort of intensity, that keeps the listener suspended in this floating state really sets the tone for the beat and mood for the rest of this collection.
Its sets an immersive, expansive tone that’s carried throughout.
‘Orion’ blows in with this epic, expansive majesty that soon gives way to subtle groove. There’s this wave of kinetic energy on the track that builds on the punchy-intensity from the last while creating a totally different character in the process. The song blazes withan energy that feels awe-inspiring in its rhythmic cadence.
‘Gemini’ builds on the rhythms introduced in the last, layering its almost mysterious melody with interesting percussion that feels engaging. Its synths volley against this rhythm, even attempting to build before lopsidedly falling apart at a certain point.
This track builds a dark intensity towards the end that seems to take on an expansive, deeper tone.
‘Cygnus’ brings in this slow, solid and settled energy that when put over a kinetic, ambient beat feels as though it settles at ease. There’s this sense the track is pulling the listener in by viscerally forcing them to remain still. The melodies feel like they layer over the listener, like thick beads of amber rendering us still.

‘Constellations’: ‘Draco’- ‘Andromeda’
‘Draco’ moves in an energetic, mysterious spiral while picking up the pace. Its juxtaposes ‘Cygnus’ in a way that feels as though we’re being catapulted into a sprint, not a moment to breathe or catch our breathe. We volley through nebulas that take us from somewhere loud & overwhelming almost to somewhere a bit quieter.
‘Taurus’ takes on slow, mysterious synths that seem to pulsate and tumble. The track’s prominent base-line glues the track together while syncopated rhythms seem to lend the song this low rumble. Dark, glorious, expansive.
‘Lyra’ seems to twinkle with a snappy hopefulness, building towards a soaring, positive climax that doesn’t fully arrive until the next track. Its synths seem to give off this curious air, flashing by almost like shooting stars, setting an interesting pace and rhythm while its at it.
The final song on the EP ‘Andromeda’ is a grounded track, lead by piano-like synths that seem to fully realise the build-up in intensity on ‘Lyra’. There’s this sense that the instrumentation cascades into a fullness, building from a quite, curious intrigue to an emotionally raw soundscape with a solid intensity.
Its emotionally driven yet grounded build is a definite highlight on the EP that leaves an expansive impression.
