Split Persona-No You Won’t | Resume Chaos

The alt-rock scene has metastasized into a being that can’t be explained. It has influences from everywhere, and is excitingly unpredictable. Split Persona harness that smorgasbord of influences that made alt-rock and tear a new hole with live instruments in the seemingly mediocre fabric of pop-rock. No You Won’t is their latest single.

With semi-distorted guitars as an entry ticket, Split Persona revive the Weezer years. Their song has a certain punch even before the other instruments enter. The chord progression is clean, simple and precise. As the vocals entertain inflection and the singers thoughts, the instrumentals balance it out like white meat with white wine. It entertains the palette, teases it and as the song is this simple, asks for more.

The instruments are devilishly well-balanced and create a vortex of sound that is synonymous with alt & prog rock. As the verse repeats, the instruments grow with an organic spine, treating us to the same verse with a different punch. The simplified Synyster Gates guitar work is a nice touch to the chorus. We hear some raw energy before the solo and a great breakdown to a song delivered with style.

Split Persona have been making waves, till the pandemic took over. They’re back on their feet now, and they sound as good as ever, if not better. Enjoy their EP from last year, and their other single On Your Own from earlier this year.
