Athens-based four-piece band Jimmy Knows was formed in 2018 and the artists have been putting out amazing music ever since. Known mainly for their classic alt-rock sound, the band also showcases a blend of dance music-inspired elements in their songs, which makes their music resonate with a wide audience. Their latest release ‘Sweat’ takes you back to the MGMT days of guitar-driven choruses and lively rhythms
‘Sweat’ begins with a muted guitar strum that sets the upbeat groove of the track. Throughout the song, a slightly distorted, yet soft vocal melody is carried by a tight drum rhythm and an electric guitar. Jimmy Knows creates a unique atmosphere of aggression and melancholy here – a rock song with a modern touch.
Similar to the vocal tone on their previous release ‘Flowered’, ‘Sweat’ features a gritty sound and both the tracks are at their core, love songs. They sing in a light-hearted manner about the sweat and tears it takes just to get a sign from someone you desire. The lyrics express the journey from discovery to infatuation and even desperation at some point while expressing this in a very flavorful manner through relatable lyrics and infectious riffs.
Additionally, the track also features a striking guitar solo that comes in towards the end along with powerful vocals. The singers’ versatile vocal style can be well-appreciated here, ranging from his smooth verses to energetic growls! A banging end to a banger of a track!
