First Frontier is a Birmingham based garage rock due that showcases Helena on the drums and Paul on the guitar and both of them sharing vocal duties. Their music has a different mix down giving it a raw and old school feel that adds a whole new dimension of intimacy to their music.
Paul and Helena’s angelic voices are the highlight of their music. Their latest single – ‘Insist’ starts off with a really nice guitar intro from Paul. It transports me to a warm and cozy fireplace on a cold winter night with just friends and family – Paul playing the guitar and singing for us. It’s a very intimate connection that they build with the listener. As the song progresses Paula’s part comes in and for some reason I’m suddenly reminded of ‘The Cranberries’. Oh Man! She does not disappoint after listening to Paul and its as if their voices are meant to go together in a song.
A really intimate and happy single from First Frontier that seems perfect for when you’re taking the bus to work or are spending some alone time with just your earphones.
