‘Bulletproof’ by Freekstar is a Bright Punk Rock Track that Feels like a Nostalgic Throwback

Bulletproof’ by Freekstar is an energetic, bright punk track that explodes (or doesn’t) with a raw, in-your-face & unapologetic attitude. Its accompanied with a goofy music video that shows off the duo’s fun, carefree side.

The track is characterised by vibrant, quick-paced guitar melodies and a spunky vocal delivery. This adding this light, bright sense of levity that feels like a throwback to bright punk pop-rock from the 2000s.

‘Bulletproof’: Nostalgic Loud Spunk

‘Bulletproof’ begins loud, almost punching you in the face with its brightness. Its opening verse pulls us in with its almost carefree declaration, “…this is wicked, but so what?…”. It’s an anthemic declaration of identity done in the bright, loud way only punk rock can.

This verse also teases the bright, cathartic chorus that wraps the song’s themes together. The bold cry of “…I am what I am, whether you like it or not…” drips with rebellious spirit. This, with enough repetitions, feels like the most cathartic line to sing-a-long to, loud and pretty proud.

The refrain on ‘Bulletproof’ also pulls on untapped potential, promising the listener and anyone who doesn’t listen to that they ain’t seen nothing yet. “…Fully loaded, unexploded, I’m bulletproof…”. The first time it plays this section also teases a note of a cathartic guitar solo, that it fully realises by the song’s climax and end.

These familiar cries of “…I don’t care what you think…” feel like a throwback to a much simpler time, when the type of music you liked felt like it was you against the world. These anthemic declarations and bright electric guitar solos feel as vibrant and evergreen as a punk-rock track would in the early to mid-2000’s.

‘Bulletproof’ by Freekstar captures an ageless sound with a music video that feels like this rare slice of real in a world where content, authentic or otherwise, feels curated and deliberate. Its sound is spunky, and simply an expression of positivity that feels like a nostalgic throwback and a sing-a-long anthem rolled into one.
