About the Artist
Released on July 6, 2026, Folk Kitchen finds singer-songwriter Franc Cinelli keeping things simple across nine acoustic tracks rooted in folk, blues, and Americana. Each song features just one voice and one guitar, with fingerstyle playing, open tunings, and resonator slide doing the work of creating different textures.
Recorded live in the room, the album leaves in small imperfections rather than smoothing everything out in the studio. The tracks follow characters moving through memories, searching for a place to belong, and figuring out where to go next. Born in Rome and raised in London, Cinelli has spent years playing everywhere from pubs to living rooms across the UK. His approach here brings that close-up, one-person performance into the recording itself.

The Album
Folk Kitchen opens with Body & Mind, an open-tuned guitar hanging beneath an after-red sky fading into dusk. It sounds like watching the last colour drain from the sky caught somewhere between old thoughts and half-remembered dreams, waiting for something to make sense. Then, Mudlarking follows with a rhythmic, grounded guitar pattern. Something in its sound reminds me of muddy riverbanks after the tide has gone out, with things forgotten, waiting to be uncovered.
Next, Starting Over brings a driving acoustic rhythm, like pulling an old painting off the wall and finally seeing the clean patch of colour it left behind. After that, Follow Your Star brightens the record with resonant, blues-infused guitar. It sounds like following a light across an unfamiliar land, no map to tell you where it leads, but a strong feeling that you need to keep going.
Then, Gone shifts into intimate, percussive ragtime blues, its quick fingerpicking giving the song a restless playful movement. “Promises turn on a dime,” tells how quickly trust can change, while, “whispers can make you cry,” drags the hurt close. It sounds like finding an old letter with words that mean something entirely different now, finally being able to put it away.

Following that, Road Not Taken, slows the album down, with the feeling of staring at an old photograph, wondering about the person you might have become if one small decision had gone differently, even when you know you cannot go back to find out. Next, Let This Time Be Kind sits in a waiting room after a long, difficult day, letting the minutes pass. It requests peace without demanding that everything suddenly become alright.
On Waves, the rolling guitar moves like light shifting across the bottom of a swimming pool, breaking apart and coming together with every ripple. Here, thoughts distort everything for a moment before the surface clears again. Lastly, Empires closes the album with sweeping acoustic guitar and ambient textures, looking beyond individual struggles towards the noise of the wider world. It sounds like watching a city through a window at night, with thousands of lit-up rooms and lives unfolding at once, your own reflection sitting unmoved over the glass.
Across Folk Kitchen, there is a sense of someone trying to find their footing while memories, doubts, and the world around them stretches their attention in different directions. Some tracks look back, others search for a way forward, and a few simply ask for a moment to breathe. The search for meaning runs through the album, but the answers refuse arrival all at once. And that search stretches beyond one person’s thoughts to the noise and enormity of the world outside. With just one voice and one guitar per track, Cinelli leaves these thoughts exposed, without extra layers to soften their edges. By the end, what remains is the feeling of still trying to find your place in it all, even when you don’t quite know where that is yet.

Figuring out my path while actively plotting ten others. Serious about my dreams with somewhat chaotic ambition. Will do anything for cats.
