Rich Kid Express, spearheaded by accomplished multi-instrumentalist Rob Richardson, seamlessly blends contemporary rock with retro vibes. As part of the NWOCR (New Wave Of Classic Rock) Movement, RKE draws influence from iconic bands like KISS, AC/DC, The Sweet, Joan Jett, W.A.S.P, and the legendary Spinal Tap. The whole track has this delightful old-school rock sound, blending elements from all the way of 70s rock and roll, all the way to the 90s, and even some elements of the 00s, while retaining a sober yet energetic sound throughout the song. This is especially apparent from the use of the mellotron, as well as the delightfully crunchy, warm basses, as well as the guitar riffing that we get to listen to throughout the song. There are no two doubts about it– “Find My Way Home” takes notes from the golden era of rock music, and gives things its own spin– and I’m a fan!

The instrumentation on “Find My Way Home” brings a whole ensemble to the fore, all held together quite nicely by the percussion department, with solid keeping in rhythm, and laying down the perfect foundation for the vocals, which find themselves in a pleasant, enjoyable sweet spot down to the vocal layering going on; and when the energy does pick up and slowly release during the pre-chorus and chorus, we’re involuntarily bobbing our heads to the crash of the cymbals, grooving to the beat of the song. The mix retains glowing warmth and a silhouette of that clinical precision that I’m a fan of, and the balance “Find My Way Home” strikes between the two styles is quite intriguing. The whole song sounds and feels really well put together, with great control especially in the bass, and a bold, confident, wide sound that marks a bit of a modern twist to classic rock mastering– and if anything, this is an evolution in the right direction.
