By Million Wires is an alternative band from Tarnów, in southern Poland. They’ve been making music since 2007, landing in a space that feels dreamy and post‑rock, but still clearly grounded in melody. Their music is all about contrast. Layers of effects and atmosphere alongside songwriting that stays emotional and intentional. Their debut album, “Letters to the Absent” (2012), was praised for the way the guitars open up the space, while still keeping everything sensitive and immersive. More than anything, the records come alive through the lyrical storytelling, guided by Anna’s unique voice.
By Million Wires is back with a new EP called “Not Over,” featuring five songs. It starts with “Over.” Right from the beginning, the track hits you with stunning riffs that genuinely blow your mind in the best possible way. Then the beats slowly come in, like the song is building a case for how good it’s about to get. It keeps improving minute by minute, and by around 1:28, the vocals finally kick in, smooth as butter, without ruining the pace or the momentum of the instruments. The background also has non-lexical vocables layered in, which adds this really real touch, like depth you can feel in your chest. By almost halfway through, it becomes so polished that it turns into pure toe-tapping energy.

The theme of “Over” is heavy in a way that feels honest. It’s about emotional numbness, inner turmoil, and the fear that your life could be wasted. The lyrics give off that deep disconnection, like the speaker feels emotionless, cut off from their own senses, almost like burnout or depression. There’s also this sense of being trapped or falsely accused, shown through imagery like handcuffs and cops and a dagger under the raincoat. It all points to pressure, guilt, and pain that’s not always visible from the outside. And honestly, I’ve fallen in love with this song, because it just keeps getting better with every passing second. What a treat.

“Glass Houses” slows things down, and the mood shifts right away. The tone is deeper, and the melodies become the focus. It’s a song about loss and nostalgia, with loneliness that feels inescapable. The lyrics carry that longing for something that’s gone, like “that place is gone,” and even when the mind can’t fully process it, the feelings remain. “I still feel them” is such a powerful line because it captures the truth that memories can outlast clarity, and emotion can linger even when things don’t make sense anymore. The electric guitar work shines here, too, and the ebb and flow is genuinely satisfying.
“Lost or Won” brings more optimism. The riffs keep changing and evolving, moving through different variations, while the vocals stay full of passion and clarity. It feels like a track that’s refusing to stay down, even when the earlier songs set a darker tone.
And then “Runaway” closes the EP with proper rock energy. The riffs have that real rock backbone, and the vocals never overpower. They are just emotive and impactful. Every time the chorus hits with “runaway from your life,” the song reaches that peak of iconic energy again, like it knows exactly how to land the point and leave you there. “Not Over feels like a strong, cohesive set that balances intensity, emotion, and growth.
