‘Sunsetter’ by Positive Reptile is an instrumental 4-track EP that incorporates multiple genres while focusing on a few musical elements. The tracks are infused with the soundscapes of synthwave, rock, funk, reggae with Indian elements, with the sitar and guitar being the EP’s ultimate starts.
We see synths, sitar and guitar go through this immersive journey, with its own set of highs and lows that ultimately coalesce in the end to create this transcendent symphony.

‘Sunsetter’: Track by Track
‘Sunsetter’ uses its first track to introduce and build onto our understanding of the EP’s narrative. Its whirring sitar swoops in, laying out a scene before guitars and tablas ramp up this energy.
We find ourselves moving towards some sort of peak before the second track pulls us into a free-fall. This track feels like a continuation of the last with more emphasis on the guitar and tabla. This before the track settles into an oscillating, robust rhythm highlighted by a soaring guitar.
‘Sunsetter’ then seems to switch gears a bit more with its seemingly distorted sitars that seems to take us on a whirring journey. Here the instrumentation seems to scatter on that sonic path instead of oscillating between moods. Here, the guitar seems to take on characteristics of the sitar, along with synth-heavy yet calm mid-section.
The last song on the EP brings together dark, yet resolved notes of music. Here, the guitar melodies fully realised take center stage. This while elements from each track, like this scattering and expansive tone, seem to stay rooted in place.
This leads to a sensation that seems to be on every track on ‘Sunsetter’ by Positive Reptile, this calm sweep that highlights each star instrument’s versatility.
