Meet Kele Fleming, a profoundly talented singer-songwriter based in British Columbia. Kele effortlessly blends the vulnerability of traditional folk with the raw power of rock & roll. The whole song has this idyllic, laid back feel to it– and adding to a little bit of contrast, the instrumentation brings in a nice amount of jive with its liveliness, manifesting in the form of delightfully warm and fuzzy 80s and 90s synths, coupled with an electronic drum kit that sounds delightfully retro as well, courtesy of Cholly. From the moment the song starts, we’re greeted with the present and powerful low-end of these synths, layered beautifully below Kele’s voice, and as the energy starts picking up, this only gets better with the introduction of more and more elements into the mix.

The vocals are another standout on “Sea In Me”, with a wafty, almost angelic quality; coupled with the skilful layering going on in the mix, it all comes together to create quite a cohesive, well put-together sound. The rest of the ensemble plays perfect support here, driving the mix and keeping it engaging for the listener, introducing fervour and energy into the mix, contributing towards making the track quite an enjoyable listen.
The mix and master exhibit a nice atmosphere, with the vocals swimming in just the right amount of reverb, and the dynamics quite well controlled. There are no jarring changes in the energy of the song, only gentle crescendoes and diminuendos; and that’s something I quite loved.
