Mara Sol, a singer, songwriter, and producer from Coachella Valley, California, has a rich musical background. Mara began performing in musical theatre at the tender age of seven and later pursued classical voice at Cornish College in Seattle, Washington. She took a break before returning to music during the COVID-19 pandemic. She learned guitar and music production before releasing her debut single, “Take a Picture,” in 2022, exhibiting her distinct indie-pop style. Mara’s varied music incorporates indie pop, alt-folk, and pop-rock, with vocals evocative of folk/rock legends such as Joan Baez and Linda Ronstadt. She is inspired by artists such as James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac, Sarah McLachlan, and Imogen Heap.
Mara Sol has released a new single “Take Me Home” in collaboration with Tom Sless. The song opens with stunning acoustic riffs that are quickly joined by Mara’s passionate and hypnotic voice. As soon as the first chorus, “take me home,” kicked in, I was just sold! When Tom’s voice joined in, the song’s dreamy level neared infinity. It was Tom’s turn to shine after the first chorus, and his vocal work was just as beautiful.

The gradual introduction of beats enhanced the rhythmic effectiveness, and the guitar performance deserves special mention for its flawless delivery, which charmingly added to the melody. The second chorus was more magical than the first, imparting a cinematic touch to the song. I couldn’t help but sway gently, completely engrossed in the musical experience. Towards the climax, every element comes together at a magnificent peak, reaching the pinnacle of emotions.
