FISH AND SCALE - LETTER FROM PAULUS

“Letter from Paulus” by Fish and Scale is a Spiritual Anamnesis

“Letter from Paulus” almost draws out the sweet essence of Sting’s ‘Dessert Rose’. The passion of love and the sweet magic it holds to fulfill every desire of the human heart. Fish and Scale carries the Midas touch of grace, and the song, “Letter from Paulus,” is a heartfelt reinvention of the world’s most beloved ode to love. Singer-songwriter Roland Wälzlein, aka Fish and Scale, grew up in the most beautiful parts of South France and is now based in scenic South Germany. His music weaves together folky flavours, his intimate life’s journey and its realisations, and his artistic storytelling style. Fish and Scale is an independent folk musician, and his creative endeavours take his music beyond the conventional folk style and into much more intense, mystic, and soulful territory.

“Letter from Paulus” begins with the sweetest chime of angelic marimba and is followed by the intense keys of the grand piano that continue till the end of the song. Roland’s voice is like a fervent emotional breeze bringing the message of love and desire to all. It’s the heart screaming, “…if my heart is still empty, there’s no meaning in all. If I don’t know the love inside, I have nothing at all.” Empires, civilisations, and institutions can rise and fall with man’s will, but only love can move mountains or crumble them. Only love can fill the unending void of the material world inside a man’s heart. As he sings, “Let me be more than a thought form. Let me be more than my pride,” the desperation bellows the internal eternal flame that often simmers among the noise of the world.

The song comes with a simple yet deeply thought-provoking video. The visuals glow in shades of gold, shimmering blue, black, and skin, making it very appealing to watch. With only Ronald’s face on screen, his passion becomes impossible to miss. Through his expressions, listeners can truly feel the emotion that inspired the song.

In News: Your Brain Hates New Music and That’s Exactly Why You Need It

As I listened to “Letter from Paulus” by Fish and Scale for the first time, the song instantly shifted something profound within my heart. Like an ancient, stubborn shadow overthrown by clarity in an instant. Once, a friend told me, ‘Love is a verb.’ At the time, the phrase made little sense to me, but over the years, its meaning slowly seeped into my soul, and this song finally sealed it. Unaware, too, of the Bible’s Chapter from The New Testament, Corinthians 13th Hymn of Love, I found myself in a sacred remembering that has been patiently waiting within to wake up.
