Shower Beers was founded in 2022 with the mission to get people bopping with catchy hooks, big drums, and distorted guitars. They’re still here, and proving that pop punk is alive and well. Based in Murray Hill, NYC, Shower Beers wants to keep releasing bangers, saying, “If people keep listening, we’ll keep writing and recording pop punk songs about good times and fat riffs.” On their latest track, “One More Shot”, they seem to have, indeed, brought a banger. Keep reading for my thoughts!
True to pop punk fashion, the whole song is filled with power and energy, starting off with a groovy drumming section, with a guitar riff laid on top that keeps you company till the vocals kick in. The vocals, once they take the stage, are energetic, with a lot of layers to make the sound a lot more melodious and harmonic in nature. There are tiny elements throughout the song that keep surprising you, and that is something I quite liked.

The production retains an overall tinge of punk rock music, but given a twist as deemed appropriate for the 21st century. From the tight drum processing to the vocals being the focus of the song, the result ends up being very gentle yet energetic on the ears, a rare combination. The mix and master help quite a lot, too, with great blending of the guitars with the vocals, which ensures that the parts do not clash with each other, and presents the whole sound as a comprehensive, cohesive unit—something that I quite enjoyed, too.

Overall, Shower Beers, on “One More Shot”, bring a sound of their own to what we’ve grown up with as the biblical punk rock sound, fusing elements of their own, and bringing their festive, jovial attitudes to the table, yielding a very enthusiastic, go-get-em kind of sound; and I’m a fan!
