9 o’clock Nasty-Playboy Driver | Jive to survive

This band needs no introduction. However, that man in the album artwork might. You see the handsome smirk of James Hunt, a popular playboy speed freak who made headlines regularly for his eccentric lifestyle. Also, his feud with Nikki Lauda. This story might be familiar to those who have watched Rush. I’m sorry to say this, but Rush was a wrong introduction to this class act. 9 o’clock Nasty set the speedometer needles spinning with Playboy Driver.

If I’ve said it once, I’ll probably say it again. This band surfs between genres like it is nobody’s business. If this song sounds great as an alt-rock/garage rock revival track- you’ve missed several of my articles. Nonetheless if this is your first time listening to the triumphant trio, you’ve found the right sound. With just the right mix of funky, dirty and catchy- Playboy Driver is a tender surrender to a man who seemed to have it all in the spotlight. 9 o’clock Nasty are doing a PSA for him with rock roots.

With a solid spine of a tempo rocking the beat, the ascending riff is something that you’ll sing along to before the song ends. When Ted, screams, it sure sounds like he’s going for blood. By the time the phaser kicks in you’re so into the song you forget you’re driving. And sure, yeah, you mow down some unassuming pedestrians. Plus point? You got arrested listening to Playboy Driver.

To reference a great group that is out to change the world-Mad as a badger boys. That is my highest compliment.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
