Sydney-based singer-songwriter Wesley Stormer takes you back to the 70s with his latest single ‘After All This Time‘. He started his musical project Sun Affair in early 2020 and has released four singles from the EP ‘First Sign Of Light’ since. Having collaborated with artist Rohan Iyer, his latest release features a colourful blend of jazzy melodies and neo-soul progressions that tell a heartfelt story.
The track begins with mellow piano chords, tight drums and a groovy bassline that sets a warm mood. With soft backing vocals supporting a soulful trumpet riff, there’s a very retro vibe that flows throughout the song. Reminiscent of the smooth, brass-driven music from a few decades ago, the slightly playful yet nostalgic lyricism enhance the laid-back feel of the track. – “I just got to tell you baby / It’s been a while and I thought maybe / If you get to talk it over, darling / I can tell you each and everything on my mind”
As the track progresses, subtle instrumental fillers allow for buttery smooth transitions and create a very chill atmosphere. Picture yourself on the beach with one of those old portable cassette players, basking in the summer sun with shades on. That’s where ‘After All This Time’ takes you. Additionally, the vocal delivery seems very natural and the catchy melodies and hooks are bound to stick to your head for a while. With a modern touch to some of the familiar sounds from the 70s, each instrument is able to shine in its own special way in the mix – a truly masterful production that will keep you engaged till the very end!
