Strawberry Aqua – Last Dance | Alluring

Strawberry Aqua has released their debut single, ‘Last Dance,’ which would be a foot-stomping hit. The setting is upbeat throughout. Strawberry Aqua is made up of Becca Rogers and Marion Birdsall, with Marion based in Los Angeles and Becca in Washington, DC.

Marion Birdsall and Becca Rogers met in primary school in Tucson, Arizona, and bonded over their mutual passion for producing YouTube videos, sneaking into pop punk shows, and writing pop music. They hadn’t spoken for 7 years after high school. They connected shortly before the outbreak and learned that they were both still passionate about songwriting. It immediately became an outlet for each of them throughout COVID-19.

They wrote their debut song in a single day and were in the studio two weeks later. They co-wrote their first song together after not seeing each other in person since high school. They realised they had to produce more because the process was so exciting for them. They began composing and recording with no preconceived notions or expectations. They’ finally released their debut single, ‘Last Dance,’ after two bicoastal reunions and over a dozen tracks.

Last Dance is a pleasant and uplifting song. The vocal melody is extremely infectious, luring listeners in and making it simple for fans to sing along. Heavy bass and bright synth tones form the foundation of the arrangement. With the bass, the beat is really tight and consistent. I was particularly taken by the vocal production built with the vocoders, which is both captivating and well-blended without overpowering the vocals. The tune is easily remembered thanks to the clarity of the mix and the catchy hooks. Above all, there are a few 80s components in the production that are seasoned with salt. It’s very fascinating!
