Presley Duyck – My Someone | Sentimental Radiance

We get to hear some fresh indie country pop by Presley Duyck on her latest release My Someone. My Someone is Duyck’s second single and somber follow-up release this year after the more upbeat Cold Together. Presley has had a stunning string of releases from 2021 including Juliet, Happy 22!, and her phenomenal debut Passenger Seat.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, she is also an actor who has a background in musical theatre and Broadway musicals. Being influenced by classic rock and folk music taking inspiration from artists like Fleetwood Max, Queen, Joni Mitchell, the Beatles, and Elton John. She of course has modern pop influences like Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Harry Styles.

My Someone beings with acoustic guitars and galloping drums. We hear signature vocal humming through the song with guitar licks backing it. Presley builds an aura of romantic melancholy with her expressive vocal delivery. We hear a sweet violin solo in the middle of the song which is a welcome sprinkling to the track. We enter the energetic bridge to feel a whole gamut of emotions. As the track ends on the vocal reverb remnants one ponders the deep longing of a hopeful lover. Duyck’s songwriting was inspired by the feelings of someone whose spouse must go to war.

Presley’s vocals have great earnestness in them which provide the perfect outlet for her mature songwriting. The rhythm work and muted guitar lick comping are tastefully performed by guitarist Nick Lashley. Duyck finds the perfect producer with LA-based veteran producer Chris Garcia who has worked with music legends like Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey, Katie Perry, Christina Aguilera, and Celine Dion. Having produced a versatile range of artists from Adele to Cat Stevens and Santana, Presley Duyck gets the perfect production to her music. Presley’s holistic musical background in musical theater, composition, acting, and a versatile musical DNA is evident. My Someone is a beautiful song with deep emotions and solid songwriting which expresses them.
